Thean Chun Restaurant (天津茶室) @ Ipoh Old Town, Ipoh

Sometime don't know where to eat in Ipoh, although there's too much delicious food at here.
From breakfast until supper, no problem to look for food, provided if u have transport.
Feeling boring if u keep continue having lunch at the same area, thus today lunch will fetch mom to something never been before.
After called sister to join with us, then we are heading to Ipoh Old Town (is real town, not the brand OldTown) to have lunch there.
Found 1 restaurant which I was visited before, but I was forgotten until I sit back and look on the environment, then only I was reliased I had visited this restaurant 10years ago.
Something special in this restaurant was, Eat-All-U-Can Satay only can be found at this place, but pay later. In the past, each of the tables will be served with 1 plate with full of Satay. U can immediately enjoy the satay, before u left then only the boss will count how many sticks on ur table. Is quite fun and never eaten like this before. But some friends complain that it might not hygiene after putting on the table for longer period, or it might be not hot anymore. If u want to eat fresh Satay, which is just burnt few minutes ago, u can request the boss to change or refill another bundle of Satay. They're happily to do that.

Ipoh Satay, RM0.70 per stick
2 choices, either pork meat or chicken meat.
The meat is slightly different compare the malay style satay. It's more juicy and chewy. The size is similar to Kajang Satay. The Satay must dip into the peanut sweet sauce. U can taste the peanut aroma in the sauce.

Kuey Teow Chicken (鸡丝河粉), RM4.00 (small)
The Kuey Teow is very smoothly entering into the mouth.
The soup is tasty, but slightly oily. The oil is a bit reddish, but that's very important to make sure the kuey teow is smooth.
The Chicken meat is slightly rough, perhaps it's breast meat.
The prawn is fresh and tasty.
This is 1 of the original & best Kuey Teow Chicken soup that u can find in Ipoh town. The soup is slightly thicker chicken taste.

Due to ovewhelming respond in this place, thus we had no extra tables when we came and we had to share with other customers.
We just sit beside their stall, but they putting the collection area (include rubbish, fork, spoon, and the bowl will be collected and wash again.) just beside the stall. for me, that's not so hygiene.

After we placed an order, we were in the waitlist and wait for more than 40minutes before the food being served.
As u can see, the list is not only 1 page, actually behind and few more pages also.

View of the shop:

The Kuey Teow Chicken stall

Overall the ingredient are fresh, portion is consider just enough to fulfill my stomach.
The taste is delicious, food appearance is tempting and make me mouth-watering.
The pricing is reasonable, no tax (Service Tax + Government Tax).
The food variety is very limited, only few stalls in this shop.
The environment is very crowded, it might be due to school holiday and lunch hour. Thus, the peoples are fully occupied this shop and no extra seats until u have to share with others.
The service is okay.

Gerai Minuman Lin Kee (嬣记八宝雪) @ Stall 17, Bazaar, Seremban town, Seremban

Time flies, the crowded scene at this stall can be seen in the past.
Is not easy for u to just order and eat, but u have to wait for couple of minutes and then only u can enjoy the ABC (Air Batu Campur, also known as ais kacang).
But now, the crowded scene was gone in the wind.
Anyway, the moment I visited this stall is still queing with many waiting customers.
It shows that ABC in this stall is still very famous.
It might be truely because the strategic location of this bazaar is between the terminal bus and the town, thus most of the customer will pausing their steps and visit this stall before continue walk to the destination.

ABC (八宝雪), RM2.80

After few scoop, the stuffing can be seen which were hidden at the bottom of the bowl.
The stuffing are cendol, corn, red bean, jelly, herbs jelly, peanuts, and of course the most important is the ice with concentrated milk topping.
This ABC is very traditional taste, which means the ice are soft and milky, red sugar are just nice, not so sweet or not so tasteless, topping with concentrated milk. It's really enjoying the ABC and feels like want to order second ABC because the taste is so delicious.

Besides that, u can order other beverage too.

Overall the ingredient are well prepared, the peanuts was not oily or too harden, the ice is smooth and great taste.
The pricing is consider reasonable with such many stuffing in this ABC, no tax (Service Tax + Government Tax).
The food variety at this area still consider medium low range of the choice.
The environment is still okay, not so hygiene because this is in the partially-old building.
The service is so-so. But in the past, some customers had feedback that if the business is overwhelming, the person who take order or the lady boss will slightly "black face" (unfriendly) due to tired and too busy until no smile on their face.

Restoran Sai Woo (西湖) @ Jalan Alor, Kuala Lumpur

Walking around in Bukit Bintang KL, must take a look on Jalan Alor.
This road is famous with variety of food...along the road... from start to the end also food.
Thus, we do not know which stalls are really nice, just pick 1 to test.
Finally decide to sit at this restaurant and give a try for supper.

Water Spinach with Squid (鱿鱼蕹菜), RM10
It supposed be very nice food.
But anyhow, after tasting... the food preparation at this place was not good enough.
Overall the ingredient was not fresh.
It contains Water Spinach, Squid, Chopped peanuts, and sweet prawn sauce.

Luk Mei drink (六味), RM3.50
It’s suppose 1 type of herb drink...but... sorry I can't taste any herbs, but only can taste the sweetness of the drink.
If am not mistaken, it's using Melaka sugar only.

Overall the ingredient in these places is not fresh or called over commercial. The food actually is very famous in the past, or u can taste at other place which is better. But at here, am so sorry...I don't like it.
The taste is no quality control. Which means the food is really spoil my mode because the taste is not so control. A bit tasteless for food and the drink is oversweet.
The pricing for sure is no tax (Service Tax + Government Tax), but it’s really KL price...which is slightly higher compare the food in other place.
The food variety of choice at this Jalan Alor area is too many. Whole Street is only food and food. Although there's other shops like massage or hotel, but most of it...still food.
The environment is quite crowded, got many promoters (sorry most of them are guy) will invite or ask u to eat at their stalls/ restaurant.
the service is slightly not so good. because most of the waiter is foreigner workers. Thus, they cant communicate well. but they'll try their very best to use menu to ask. u only need to point based on the menu.

Restaurant 3JC (三间庄) @ Low Yat Plaza, Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur

Feeling hungry after walking so long in Bukit Bintang and travel from Seremban, is time to serve my stomach with KL food.
After checking my “cool” product in town, have to put a stop and kill my hunger mode first.
After walking around, decided to eat at the lower ground floor in Low Yat Plaza.
Few times survey and searching which café can try out, finally we choose Restaurant 3JC.
The special part that attracting us is because the food is homemade.

Tom Yam Seafood Homemade Noodle (冬炎海鲜自制面), RM10.90
Like the Tom Yam very much, thus my satisfaction level will be slightly high compare other food.
Anyway, am very satisfy on this Tom Yam noodle… enough spicy and sour taste.
The stuffing are fresh and well cooked.
The homemade noodle are resemble Ramen, but it’s different compare Yellow Mee, in other word is lye water noodles (碱水麵)

Other than Tom Yam, u can choose other taste too.

3JC Curry Homemade Noodle (三间庄咖哩), RM9.90
The curry is very tempting and attracting me to try it out.
The soup is so reddish, and put lots of coconut milk. Tasty soup and homemade stuffing are well cook.
Not so spicy, and just nice.
The portion is slightly big, worth it.

5 types of Mee that u can choose.
Homemade Noodle, Kuay Teow, Lo See Fun, Bihun, or mix.
The homemade noodle is special because the noodle is more chewy and fresh compare the yellow mee.

Deep Fried Dumplings (香脆炸鲜虾水饺), RM3.40 (for 2pieces) || RM7.80 (for 5pieces)
The stuffing is full of meat and the size is quite big. The price is consider reasonable with the great taste of this dumpling.
The fried skin is so crunchy and it's not oily at all.

Other choice of dessert/ snacks
The menu nice pictures + we are too hungry... makes us mouth-watering, but stomach cannot fill in... so... just order as we can.

Blue Sea (蓝海洋), RM4.50
It's not like salted sea taste, but it's really tasty and fresh.
Is like a lemon + strong carbonate gas drink.
if u are thirsty, this drink really can kill ur thirst.

There’re some other beverage that u can choose.
Those beverages names are weird, but most of it is like Taiwanese drink.

Some briefing about the food in this restaurant… check it out.
Now famous with healthy food, no MSG, homemade... so this is 1 of the best place u can go.

There’re other outlet that u can visit, and Wifi available. For detail, can check in Facebook.
The speed of the WiFi still consider fast, the other outlet can be visited since the food is so nice and delicious.

Some Chinese traditional and cute kitchen stuff.

Overall the ingredient are fresh and well prepared.
The taste is so nice and delicious, u must go and try for it.
The serving portion is big, the appearance is make me mouth-watering because the food is looks so tempting.
The pricing is consider reasonable because the portion and the taste is worth for it. But it’s include tax (10% Service Tax, No Government Tax)
The food variety is quite multiple choices.
The environment is clean and cozy, although it’s at the ground floor of the Low Yat Plaza.
The service is quite friendly and keep smiling.

Subway @ Tai Ichi Hotel (第一酒店), Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur (Halal)

After wake up in KL, should be no problem to look for breakfast at here.
Thus, the nearest and most desire to eat, which suggested by yesterday Birthday Girl is Subway.

Not sure why the name called Sub-Way.
Is it small road or branch after main road? Local people said “Lorong”, “Lintang”, etc…
Anyway It’s American restaurant franchise that primarily sells submarine sandwiches (subs) and salads. (Quote from Wiki).
Ooo… sandwiches and salads, consider healthier food than the others.
We found the nearest Subway café which inside Bukit Bintang area is inside Tai Ichi Hotel (第一酒店). Weird… never heard any franchise café inside the hotel. Or we might outdated lo.

There’re few steps to build your own sandwiches or salads.
Step1: Choose your menu, either Footlong, 6-inch, salad, or wrap.
Footlong is extremely long bread for those big appetite people, or those who want to share for 2 persons.
6-inch bread… no need to tell u what’s the size and I think u should know how small it is (for western people, it’s consider small size and suitable for kids)
If u choose Salad, they’ll use a plate and fill in all the stuffing that u want.
Wrap is like Roti Kebab in Malaysia, but it should be different taste because it has ur customized stuffing inside.

Step2:
Choose ur bread, can try many different bread that u want. Hearty Italian, Wheat, Honey Oat, Italian, Parmesan Oregano, Wrap… Oops, I don’t know all that. U can Google it out. ;-)

Step3:
After chosen ur bread, is time to choose ur cheese and meat.

There’re 3 types of meats that u can choose, with chicken, beef, or turkey.
About 7 to 8 kinds of taste and combination stuffing that u can choose.

The more stuffing u choose, the more u need to pay. ^_^
As u like, still can choose the stuffing until overflow.
After putting all the meat and cheese into the bread/wrap, it’ll be heated for few minutes before move to the next step.

Step4:
After the stuffing and bread/wrap been heated up, is time to choose ur veggies.
The choices are Lettuce, Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Red Onions, Pickles, Olives, And Jalapenos.

Step5:
Finish putting ur veggies? Is turn to choose ur sauce.
Yellow Mustard, Sweet Onion, Mayonnaise, Olive Oil Blend, Vinegar, Chilli, Ketchup, BBQ, Ranch… Wau… never heard before, but it’ll for sure made ur sandwiches and salads more tastier.

Step6:
Settle customized ur food? To complete a set of meal, u can choose drink and snacks.

After all the steps, is time to enjoy the meal.
Let’s compare a Hand-phone bag vs a Foodlong bread… Ooo… It can make u madly full if only 1 person to finish it.

It’s so tempting on the outlook, tasty and delicious for the inside… stuffing and bread.

The price is RM20.67… Oops… I’m too excited to focus on the menu, without look at the pricing.

Overall the ingredient is fresh and tasty.
Most of the stuffing is follow western style, more heavy taste.
The pricing is consider reasonable, because the size is so big.
Only 3 types of menu, and the stuffing is slightly limited of variety.
The environment is exactly like fast food café.
The service… am not sure why, but the staff who was serving us not picking up a smile while taking order… very sour face waitress. :-(
