KissA Koyotei Cafe (契茶红叶亭) @ Penang

After a big sacrifice, is time to reward myself after known the result.

Thus, am going to enjoy lunch in this Cafe.

The theme of this Cafe is Japanese Cafe with ladies servant (女仆日本餐厅).

Thought they'll serve u with feeding u with the food, but anyway...Dream la...

In fact, they only serve u like normal cafe, just bring the food to ur table...Yes, eat the food by urself..

Only wearing the cutie dress, but sorry to say that, either they're cool or they're in the bad mood, am not sure why they seldom smile when they are talking to the customers.

Is a big different compare the “advertisement” Lady Servant… a bit disappointed…

Anyway back to the food, at the beginning they’ll served snack food.

Quite special compare others.

It’s made of fried egg with some carrot slice and with onion, and it’s FOC.

Besides that, it’s same like Sushi King, Green Tea is also FOC, is not like Sakae Sushi.

Or u can order other beverage if u like, but I prefer to drink Green Tea and it’s bottomless.

Sashimi Set (刺身定食), RM40.00

Appetizing small dish, 3 kind of raw fish, prawn and vegetables tempura, Chawanmushi, miso soup, fruit, and white rice.

The fish and prawns are fresh and thick size, its Salmon and Tuna.

The Vegetables Tempura is crunchy, nice and match if dip into the sauce.

Sauce with garlic

Chawanmushi is slightly late when it’s been served. It’s so hot until I have to stop few times to finish it. Anyway it’s tasty and I like it.

Fruit…Menu is display watermelon, but that day served with 2 slices of oranges. (no photo)

Miso soup is considering MSG soup, not so special.

Finally, white rice… this rice is too soft, not solid and sticky. Not sure is it import from Japan or not, but it’s not tasty like Japanese Rice.

Dessert time, enjoy 1 scoop Haagen Dazs ice cream (offer price if order with food), RM3.50

Tasty and creamy. Finger crossed… ;-)

Or u can choose other flavors too.

Image of the shop:

Just opposite the New World Park

Name Card:

The environment is nice and relaxing.

Good place to enjoy ur food.

Overall the ingredients are fresh and delicious. Fried foods are crunchy and tasty. Is recommended place if u want to eat fresh Sashimi.

The pricing is slightly stand at upper side, include 10% Service Tax and 6% Government Tax

The foods have variety of choices. Besides Sashimi, u can choose Udon or other choice. They provide alcohol too.

The environment are cozy and relaxing place. Good place for u to enjoy ur meal in relaxing mood.

The service is middle range, because the waitress are so-cool, which means they are rarely smile to the customers.

Jalan Trang (Jalan Terang) Char Koay Teow @ Penang

Initially looking for steamboat as dinner, had booked ChaYu Kafei restaurant.

But the merchant said if I want to eat Superior Broth Fish Pot Personal Steamboat Set, at least 2 persons only can be served… sigh… means I have to make another plan.

End up, have to look for food nearby or go to KFC settle my dinner.

Found few hawker stalls along the road, suppose the road stated on the road is Jalan Trang, but the Google map is Jalan Terang.

There’re few choices for dinner, all local food.

Hokkien Mee, Char Kuey Teow, Fried Rice or other delicious food and beverage.

Is just beside Gama supermarket (1 of the famous supermarket in town, because the selling items are cheaper compare with other supermarket)

This stall has making attraction to me, they fried the Char Koay Teow by using strong fire.

Sorry, this picture not really show how strong the fire. ;-)

Ohya, no stall name too. I had looking around searching for the stall name, but they only put the food name.

Char Koay Teow, RM3.50

3 middle size Prawns, Chinese Sausage (腊肠), Cockles, and Egg. Also include Koay Teow, Taugeh and Chives(韭菜).

The taste is great, not so oily, with these stuffing, the price is consider reasonable.

Ohya, the soya bean drink also nice at the next stall. But forgot to take picture...should be no different compare others.

Overall the pricing in these few stalls are reasonable, Food & Beverage along the street for sure no tax (Service Tax + Government Tax)

Food variety is slightly less, only less than 5 stalls in total.

Environment is middle range compare to other stalls along the street.

Service is Ok, not talkative or arrogant.

G. P. Soon Rojak (孫翊徒 囉也) @ Gurney Drive, Penang (Halal)

There're different types of shrimp paste and stuffing for Rojak.

Somf of the Rojak in Ipoh will add some taugeh and Kangkung.

For Penang Rojak, Ambarella (or originally called Spondias dulcis) will be added in.

In Penang, Rojak @ this stall is very famous.

As u can see, I have to on queue and lots of customers still waiting to order their “black gold”

Ditanggung Halal, Price list: RM3, 4, 5, 6, 7

And also u can customize make order, for e.g. u wan adding more or exclude any fruits/vegetables.

Just beside Gurney Drive MPPP public toilet

Is Ok, no smell although u are standing so near. ;-)

Some stall info:

If u want DIY ur own Rojak, u can purchase their shrimp paste in bottle.

Chen Hung (Famous Chef in Taiwan) had visited before, and recommend u to come

Rojak Stuffing:

Fried and Crispy You Char Kuay (油条, Chinese Donut)

Young Mango, Cucumber, Sengkuang, Pineapple, Jambu Air, and Umpala (Kedondong)

Cuttlefish

If u request little spicy, they’ll add on this chili

But if u want heavier spicy taste, they’ll add blended chili sauce

Groundnuts and Sesame seeds

Before pour the shrimp paste

And after covered with shrimp paste

Overall the ingredients are fresh because each of the fruits will be cut on the spot.

The taste is different compare the rest, the shrimp paste is nice with some honey taste.

Don’t worry, no extra charges such as Service Tax or Government Tax.

At Gurney Drive consider variety of food, lots of choices, but this Rojak Stall is only selling 1type of food only.

The environment is so-so, the good thing is clean, but the bad thing about this stall is because toilet is just beside it.

Not much conversation and serving required, but the boss is friendly to show his skill when ladies want to snap photos. ;-)

Xuan Xin Restaurant (炫升港式小厨) @ Gurney Plaza, Penang

If u like Hong Kong style restaurant, this restaurant is 1 of the best choice for u.

Stewed Venison in Black Bean Sauce with Rice (鼓椒鹿肉饭), RM12.80

The meat is chewy and fresh, black bean sauce with a bit spicy and sweet.

And label it with name of the master chef.

Hong Kong Stir-Fried Hor-Fun (Seafood/Beef)

港式干炒河(海鲜/牛肉), RM13.80

Beef meat is chewy and tasty, but the overall is oily and it’ll lump together once it’s not hot.

This meal is cook by…

They’ll label the master chef name at here, so that u can provide feedback based on the chef name.

Ramen Noodle with Seafood & Tomyam Soup (东炎海鲜汤拉面), RM12.80

Ramen Noodle is chewy and fresh.

Soup are sour and spicy, great taste.

Lots of Seafood in this bowl of mee, it’s worth because the prawns and other seafood are fresh and well cook.

Sauteed Crispy Noodle with Shredded Meat & Presserved Vegetable (雪菜肉丝煎生面), RM12.80

Is not recommended if u do not like these kind of food, like me.

Normal Who Dan Ho (滑蛋河) is better than this.

Pan Fried Fu Yong Omelette (叉烧芙蓉煎蛋), RM12.00

Nothing special compare the Omelette that u can eat in other restaurant.

Fresh Bitter Gourd Juice (港式苦瓜汁), RM5.00

Nice and tasty juice, 1 of the recommended drink u can try.

Is bitter and sweet.

It blends together with skin, thus u drink it and feel it’s granulated (沙沙的感觉).

Mango Snow Mountain (炫升芒果刨冰), RM6.50

slightly over sweet.

The sliced mangoes, nata de coco, and jelly are fully covered the snow mountain.

Peanuts (花生)

Quite systematic and high-tech, using remote to call the waiter/waitress, and also can ask for bill / water.

Few highlights for sharing:

Relaxed & Comfortable environment

Reasonable pricing with good portions

Clean Comfortable & Cozy Atmosphere

Lots of convenience parking space

** If u wan save $$, please ask them to remove the wet tissue, if not..they'll assume u’ll use it and it’ll count into bill.

Overall the ingredients in the food and beverage are fresh and well cook.

The taste is nice and delicious, resemble Hong Kong style and also similar with Guang Fu cooking style.

The pricing is slightly overpriced if compare the normal restaurant; but compare in Gurney Plaza with classy environment, is consider reasonable.

The food and beverage had variety of choices.

The environment is relaxing and u’ll feel like u are in the Hong Kong restaurant, because the decorations is similar with Hong Kong style.

Service is good and standard, u can call the waiter on the spot or request a total bill by pressing a remote button, they’ll rapidly served u.
